Ben Nichols BBQ

Some old Friends from the Pacific Beach days, days I am trying so hard to forget, had a BBQ over the weekend. They flew in Lucero front man Ben Nichols to play. It was amazing! Ben has one of the most unique voices. You combine that with his knack for song writing and you have complete awesomeness. I can't think of any other way I would have rather kicked off summer 2009.

Inner Nerd

Paint balling is really fun. Electric had a sales contest called the So Cal Shoot out. Top selling stores from LA, OC and SD battled it out on the paint ball field for a BLISS Magazine ad. Sun Diego Fashion Valley held it down for the SD team. You will have to pick up the next issue of BLISS to find out who came out on top.

Why?

Why mess with the Original? Check out the after market paint job on this DeLorean. The brushed metal looks way better than gloss black. RIP DMC.

Jenna's Wedding in Mammoth

Went up to Jenna's wedding in Mammoth this weekend. It was a short ceremony with beautiful scenery. Good friends, good views and fresh air. Amazing weekend.
Took a little detour on the way home through an old mining town called Randsburg. If you are ever on your way to Mammoth and want to wander around an amazing town shoot a few miles off the 395 and look for The Joint. Ice cold beers and an amazing vibe.

Old mines in Randburg
The Magic bus. Note the VW buss welded on the top and the patio on the back.

The Joint, my new favorite bar. Johnny Depp has been to this bar. The photo on the wall says so.

How's that for a scenic wedding?

Hiking out side of Mammoth is the best. Here is Annika, Pat and My attempt at a family photo.

CAKE

Found my hard drive with all my old music on it last night. Re-Obsessed with Cake and it feels good. Here are just a few samples of my favorite Lyrics:

"Sheep Go to heaven, Goats go to Hell"

"The land where large fuzzy dice still hang proudly like testicles from rear view mirrors"

"She's got a silk dress and healthy breasts that bounce on his Italian leather sofa"

"Friend is a 4 letter word"

"How much did you pay for your rock n roll t-shirt, the one that proves you were there and you heard of them first...how much did you pay for your Rock n Roll lifestyle?"

"Your liver pays dearly for youthful magic moments but rock on completely with some brand new components"

"You'll lose your hair, your teeth your knife with fall out of it's sheath but you still don't like to leave before the end of the movie"

"She's trading in her MG for a white Chrystler Le Barron"

The list goes on and on but you can listen for your self.

Marketing 101

This is just the tip of the iceberg of the migrant workers that hangout in front of my local gas station looking for work. Every now and them I see a truck pull up and a few jump in to go do manual labor. One time I saw an Imigration truck pull up and these guys were bolting across on coming traffic like a heard of deer, but that's besides the point.
Today I noticed a group of these dudes sprualled out on the grass laying down. A truck pulled up and took one of them. All the other looked pissed when they drove away. Honestly if I were these guys I would bring an F'ing weight bench and do reps all morning. That way when contractor Joe pulls up and needs a deck built we all know who his obvious choice will be. Just a thought.
